Propositions (starting from Chapter 2) are a good way to farm money and JP for your regular troops.

Low Faith will mean that healing spells are less helpful for physical fighters, but will also mean that enemy spells deal less damage. It increases the effectiveness of their magic, but also means that any spells which target them are super-effective as well.

High Faith is helpful for magic users, sort of.

If the 'roll' for the item is above the character's Brave, you get the rare item, so having someone with a Brave of 20-30 will greatly increase your chances of getting the good stuff. For Move-Find Item, it's actually beneficial to have a low Brave, because it uses the character's Brave score to determine whether or not the player gets the common or rare item. Many Reaction abilities use it for the % that the ability will trigger and it greatly effects a Monk's physical damage, among other things.

High Brave is helpful for many things, with the exception of the Move-Find Item skill.

If you don't keep them around (even if you don't use them), you'll miss out on a lot of late-game, optional content.

Around the end of the second of the game's four chapters, you start to get special, named characters who join your party as playable characters instead of uncontrollable guests.

Some areas of the game have 'linked' battles which must be fought consecutively before you can back out and buy new equipment, fight random battles for EXP and JP, etc, so having a file you can default back to if the linked battles are too difficult is paramount. have two save files for one playthrough, and alternate saving between them. Going in blind is the way to go, but I've got a few helpful hints for you: I often will get an enemy real low in health ( 1-2 hp ) and then let the healer / white mage jump in and do its 1hp of damage to get the kill for max xp to level up. Oh also, just be forewarned it is tough to level up a healer character. My life may be different today if games back in the day had that sort of feature! Instead of spending 4-5 hours on a few battles in the old days. If your playing on the Vita via Classics or something like that, you'll be good to go though and will be able to shut it down and pick it up again at another time. Battles can take upwards of an hour sometimes, so just be patient. SE did a fine job with making the game beatable in so many different ways. There are 100,000 strategies out there lol.

The game does a pretty solid job of easing you into the product and giving you good tests in the early going so you can build up some confidence on what to do and how to do it. For a very first timer it could be pretty tough at times.
